frequently asked questions
How do I know which chemical peel will benefit me most?
During your initial consultation, the experienced AZURI team will evaluate your skin type and listen to your concerns and goals for your skin to determine which peel regimen most closely matches your needs.
Are there any reasons I may not be a good candidate for a chemical peel?
Chemical peels are generally universally skin-friendly. However, you will need to wait to schedule your peel if you're experiencing any of the following at the peel site: infection/disease, cuts or open wounds, sunburn, active cold sores, or active psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, or rosacea. Pregnant and nursing women and those who have taken Accutane in the last 6 months are also not good candidates for chemical peels in Miami Beach.
What can I expect during the procedure?
Similar to a facial, you are laid back and relaxed during your chemical peel at AZURI. We uniformly apply peeling agents over your face and neck, or sometimes we combine different strengths and types of agents to effectively treat your concerns. Some patients' skin is more tolerant than others, and some light tingling or burning sensations are normal and expected. We have some options available to minimize discomfort.
Does skin actually peel off during a chemical peel?
You may or may not experience actual flaking or peeling skin after your treatment. If you do experience peeling, it typically begins a few days after the treatment and clears up after a few more days. Even if your skin doesn't peel, you still reap the benefits of a chemical peel!
Is there any downtime or care post-treatment?
There is no required downtime after your chemical peel. You may resume your normal activities immediately following treatment, but we recommend avoiding heavy exercise and sweating over the next several days as perspiration can disrupt the peeling process. You should also not apply any makeup or products on your face until day 2 of the peeling process. You should also wear SPF 30 or higher religiously for at least one week following your peel.
Can chemical peels be used on parts of the body other than the face?
Yes! Other areas that can benefit greatly from chemical peels include the neck, chest, and hands.
